In collaboration with I-tech solutions, we successfully completed a floating photovoltaic installation in a reservoir in the Alentejo region of Portugal, showcasing the great potential of solar energy on aquatic surfaces. This project, strategically located in one of the sunniest areas of the country, makes the most of the surrounding conditions, optimizing energy efficiency while minimizing environmental impact.
The installation consists of 66 solar panels, reaching a nominal capacity of 30 kW and a total power of 37.29 kWp. Being located on the water, the panels benefit from the reservoir’s natural cooling effect, allowing them to operate at an optimal temperature and thus increasing their performance.
Lamaru® System
One of the greatest advantages of our technology lies in the modular and stackable design of our systems. For this project, we used the Lamaru floating system, specifically developed for solar-on-water installations. Its design allowed us to transport the entire structure on a single truck, significantly reducing logistics costs and the project’s environmental footprint, ultimately lowering costs for our client.
This system is made up of modular floats: the main floats, which support the solar panels, and the secondary floats, which facilitate maintenance tasks. Thanks to its flexibility, we were able to adapt the installation to the project’s needs, assembling in rows or columns as required. In addition, with our ergonomic tools and easy-to-assemble components, we optimized installation times and improved efficiency.
Key Advantages of the Floating Solar Installation:
- Stackable supports: The supports of the Lamaru system are fully stackable, making storage and transportation much easier.
- Simple assembly: The modularity of the system allowed us to carry out a fast and efficient installation, optimizing the use of both labor and time.
- Space efficiency: By going floating, we were able to use the reservoir surface without affecting its surroundings, maximizing energy production on a limited surface area.
- Easy access for maintenance: We designed maintenance walkways every four rows, ensuring quick and safe access to the panels for inspection and maintenance without interrupting plant operation.
Impact and Results: Go with Lamaru!
This project in the Alentejo region is a clear example of how our solutions can adapt to different environments, always with the goal of maximizing renewable energy generation. The flexibility and transport efficiency of the Lamaru system not only allowed us to reduce operating costs but also minimize environmental impact. This success reinforces our leadership in the development of floating solar installations.
We understand that every project is unique, which is why we work closely with you to design and implement systems tailored to your specific needs. With this installation, we have not only optimized the use of available space in the reservoir but also taken another important step toward generating clean and sustainable energy, reaffirming our commitment to a brighter and more efficient future.
